Saskatoon Secular Family Network-Reading Group: Unconditional Parenting

When: Sunday, March 20, 2011 7:00 PM
Where: Broadway Roastery – 2318 8th St E Saskatoon SK
We’re starting a new book for the SSFN reading group: Unconditional Parenting: Moving from Rewards and Punishments to Love and Reason by Alfie Kohn. Here’s a bit of how the book is described:
More than just another book about discipline, though, Unconditional Parenting addresses the ways parents think about, feel about, and act with their children. It invites them to question their most basic assumptions about raising kids while offering a wealth of practical strategies for shifting from “doing to” to “working with” parenting – including how to replace praise with the unconditional support that children need to grow into healthy, caring, responsible people.
We’ll be discussing the first 3 chapters of this book:

Conditional Parenting
Giving and Withholding Love
Too Much Control

You’re welcome to join us for the discussion of the book, even if you haven’t had a chance to read it yet! There are copies of this book at local bookstores, plus there are several copies at the Saskatoon Public Library.
